How to get in Venice

By plane

Venice's nearest airports are: Marco Polo International Airport (Tessera) and Sant'Angelo di Treviso Airport.

The Marco Polo Airport is located 12 km overland land and 10 km over water from Venice and is well connected to the city by public transport (water and land) and to the rail station in Mestre.

EuroBus service from the airport to Mestre (railway station) and Venezia (Piazzale Roma): the service is in connections with the departures and the arrivals of the BASIQ-AIR flights and the RYANAIR flights.

By train

Venice has rail connections with every major city in Italy and the rest of Europe.

Venice has two rail stations:

  1. Venezia-Mestre Rail Station. This station does not bring you to Venice, but rather Mestre, mainland Venice.
  2. Venezia S. Lucia Rail Station is on the Grand Canal in the northwest corner of the city.

By car

Getting to Venice by car is easy: the directions to reach the city are clearly marked with road signs.

The only vehicle access road to Venice, the Ponte della Libertà, is a straight road 4 km. long with two lanes in each direction, where the speed limits are clearly indicated.

Always observe the speed limits posted, never stop on the bridge and always be careful when driving.

Parking areas in Venice are located in Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto.
