The programme is arranged over five days from the afternoon of Monday 20th July to Friday 24th July. On Wednesday 22nd July there will be a free afternoon.
Arrivals and registrations will be made between Sunday afternoon 19th and Monday morning 20th. Day registrations can be made every morning.

An Invitation to the Psychology of Personal Constructs
Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) is one of those grand theories that attempts to make sense of all aspects of personal conduct. And yet it is an approach to psychology with none of the landmarks familiar in other psychologies: there are no cognitions or emotions, no self, no motivation and no unconscious. This is a talk and discussion that is aimed at beginners to PCP. We will look at the origins of the theory, its model of the person and philosophy. The concept of the personal construct will be described and elaborated. We will think about the traditional distinctions between behaviour, cognition and emotion, and see how PCP transcends these with its focus on construing. Finally, we will look at Kelly’s notion of choice and see how it is used to understand how and why people act as they do.
Dusan Stojnov (University of Belgrade, Serbia)
Spying on the Self
The ‘self’ has been the subject of many controversies in psychology ‐ from being a core issue at the onset of psychology as a discipline, to being ruthlessly banned by behaviorists and then again becoming a central concern of psychology. During this time, the self was most often treated as an entity residing “under the skin” ‐ as being an unchanging private property of an individual. The constructivist approach to psychology has boldly challenged this approach and offers an alternative construction of self, suggesting that the self is ‘created’ in relation, and that there can be not one but many selves, which are not totally integrated but fragmented. From this point of view, the self is not a structure but a process. Leading constructivists and constructionists such as Rom Harre, John Shotter, Kenneth Gergen, Michel Foucault and many others, have enabled not only different approaches and conceptualizations of the self, but also many different ways of working with the self. Unfortunately, their work has unfairly neglected the pioneering contribution of George Kelly and his Personal Construct Psychology towards the relational study of the self. The workshop "Spying on the self" is designed to investigate the self in the context of social forces through the application of Personal Construct Psychology, with the aim of fostering better understanding of people and their construing processes. It includes outlines of different approaches to the self in psychology and psychotherapy and a special technique of elaboration of the self, "Constructivist Rologram", a method developed by the author to allow an analysis of a person’s different roles in different social contexts. This workshop will be of interest to all those who are concerned with theoretical approaches to the self and to those who are interested in learning about new methods of working with the self in the areas of psychotherapy, educational psychology and human resources.
Plenaries, following the idea of co-creating a vibrant experience of constructivist living, are, wherever possible, in the form of a debate or collective work.
